FAQs

How do players register for tryouts? Parents or players may register by clicking on the Online Tryout Registration link above.. We will receive your registration and you will be prompted to pay in advance online or via mail for $25.00. Registrations and payments for tryouts in advance must be received by Saturday, July 31st for early pricing. Registrations on August 1st are considered at the door registrations and will be charged $35.00.

Why do some age groups list grades or birth dates? Regional level and local level teams are also what we call “grade” teams in our region. If a player is too old for the required birth date but is in the correct grade, they can play on this level of team. National level team players must meet the birth date requirement of that age of team in order to play on a national team regardless of their grade.

Why are tryouts held at Premier Academy in Ohio, rather than in Michigan? Premier Academy owns and operates the M-Juniors Program. The Academy in Ohio houses 7 volleyball courts to ensure a very solid tryout environment for each athlete. M-Juniors Volleyball only utilizes Premier Academy approximately two-three times total throughout the season for meetings. All other activities are held at the M-Juniors practice facility.

What will be presented at the parent/player meeting after tryouts? We will present on all of the season details listed above in full and take questions.

When will players know if they are invited and how long will they have to decide to play for M-Juniors? Players will be notified via email on Thursday, August 5 after make-up tryouts have concluded. Players that are selected will have 10 days to make a decision to accept their spot in the program. Upon acceptance to the team, players will make a non-refundable deposit towards their club dues.

What type of athlete are we seeking? For the National Level Teams, M-Juniors is a very intense training program that is geared toward the college bound athlete. Players must be able to commit to training 3 days per week beginning in early December and also to a national traveling schedule ending in mid-June. We are looking for athletes who are competitive, hard working, and dedicated to the sport. National Team 15 and 16s will be allowed to participate in one HS winter sport, but not juniors and seniors. We feel as though at the 17/18s National age-group, players should be focused on preparing for college volleyball. For the Regional Level Teams, M-Juniors is a solid commitment with two days per week of training and a regional level traveling schedule of within about 5 hours and the season running from January-mid-May. Regional Team players of any age may play a HS winter or HS spring sport (either or). For the Local level teams (14s and 12s), the program is a great introduction to club volleyball with training 2 times per week from January-mid April and matches within the Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio area only.

What makes M-Juniors different from the other clubs in southeast Michigan? M-Juniors is operated by a governing body with Premier LLC, which allows the club to operate at a high level administratively and consistently throughout the years. M-Juniors volleyball club is also known for their focus on the individual advancement of each athlete through its unique training style. With over approximately 150-200 hours of practice each season for many of the athletes, they will receive both quantity and quality coaching. In addition to training hours, our players receive plyometrics, core strength training, additional setters’ training, position training, and weightlifting (16-18s National) with our personal trainer each week. We feel as though these things are essential to train and compete at high level nationally.

Who should I contact for more questions? You can contact either our club administrative director Stephanie Harms at sharms77@msn.com , or program director Mike Watkins at mwatkins@sienaheights.edu
