Commonly asked questions about the State Level:

1) Are the State team players equally divided?

This year, we will be accepting players into the State level team program and dividing up the teams after we have received all the commitments/declines from tryouts. Every year the process after tryouts in relation to the State teams is always confusing to both players and parents. We place players on teams based on their evaluations and positions from tryouts. If you want to play on a State team in Premier, just accept your spot in the State level program. Like-skilled players will be placed together on a team after the 10-day commitment deadline and we have all of the players that said yes to the State level program.

2) What is the Premier attendance/commitment policy at the State level?

Improving your skills as a player and helping your team requires you to be at practice and tournaments! We take attendance at every practice for safety reasons. If we feel that you are missing an unusual amount of practices, we will let you know. Consequently, players that show up to practice and work hard will naturally play more in tournaments.

3) Can players play other sports or be involved in other activities?

Yes, you can play another sport or be involved in other activities

4) Can players go on spring break?

Yes you can. Please realize that practice will not be cancelled (there are too many to keep track of), so if you don’t go anywhere on spring break, we expect you to come to practice.

5) How far do these teams travel?

They will receive eight tournaments, all within 2 hours of Maumee and some in the local area. All of these tournaments will be a single-day event, either one Saturday or one Sunday. All teams’ tournament schedules will be announced online on January 1st.

6) Where are practices?

All practices are at Premier Academy

7) When do travel schedules come out?

Schedules will come out on January 1st on our website

8) When does practice start?

Practices for State teams begin in early January, specifics at Meet the Club Night

9) How many days per week do State Teams practice?

Twice a week. All 12s and 13s State teams practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm starting in early January. All 14 thru 17 State teams will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

10) Does everyone receive playing time?

Yes, each player will receive at least 50% playing time. While some players naturally will play more than others because of the dynamics of the sport, coaches at Premier understand that the team is for everyone to experience playing time in games. It’s a balance between putting players in a position to be successful for themselves and for the team.

11) How long does the season last?

From early January until the middle of May, specifics at Meet the Club Night
